After a break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and many online meetings, member federations were more than happy to come together during the EEVZA meeting held in Katowice and organised on the eve of the XLII CEV General Assembly. The leadership of all National Federations and Mr Özkan Mutlugil as the President of CEV Development & Cooperation with Zonal Associations Working Group attended the meeting.

EEVZA President Vladimir Patkin in his opening speech kindly welcomed everybody in Katowice, expressing his wishes for a successful zonal meeting and CEV General Assembly as well. During the meeting, Mr Patkin reviewed the competitions organised throughout 2020 and 2021 – as well as those coming up later this year in November, which will serve as zonal qualifiers for next year’s #EuroVolleyU18M and #EuroVolleyU17W and will be taking place in Estonia and Armenia, respectively.

The discussions revolved around financial matters as well, with the approval of the financial report of the year 2020 and 2021 budget, as well as around the possibility of increasing the support provided by EEVZA for the organisation of activities within the zone.

Mr Irakli Chachua of Georgia announced he would relinquish his position as EEVZA Vice-President, with Mr Darius Cerka, President of the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation, replacing him following a unanimous vote by all member federations. Mr Patkin thanked Mr Chachua for his contribution to the development of Volleyball in Georgia and across the Zonal Association as well.

Before the closing of the meeting, Mr Mutlugil emphasised the big efforts made by all Zonal Associations for the development of Volleyball in Europe and stressed that CEV is open to look into any new projects and to assist in their implementation.
