Kerish Maharaj, the Community Outreach Manager and Grassroots Manager for the Ontario Volleyball Association, will be hosting the next webinar run by the CEV Technical and Development Department, which is coming up in just a couple of days.

His main work revolves around building and maintaining relationships that support the growth of youth volleyball programmes through the planning, development, and implementation of province-wide grassroots programming initiatives for both Volleyball and Beach Volleyball.

In addition to being a former national Volleyball athlete for his native Trinidad and Tobago, he has 20+ years of experience in the field of youth-sport programme design, physical education, coaching education and Sport for Development across as many as 17 countries. He enjoys designing and working with challenging opportunities that require innovative change to use sport to improve the quality of life and happiness for others.

During Wednesday’s webinar, Kerish will explain how the Canadian athlete development pathway affects the choice, design and implementation of the grassroots programmes designed by the Ontario Volleyball Association. The webinar participants will also see how Volleyball is introduced, transitioned and evaluated in each stage from the development of fundamental movement skills, into modified versions of Volleyball and finally introducing the full 6v6 game for children aged 6-14 years old.
