Volleyball is a truly exciting group activity that the Slovak Volleyball Federation is currently promoting across the country with the help of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’, with a focus on pupils from the first grade of local primary schools.

This past March, the reach of the programme was further expanded, thereby introducing Volleyball to many kids through simple exercises always performed in a playful and fun atmosphere. This is especially important if they are to develop new abilities and skills. At this young age, children are very competitive and therefore they quite naturally show a higher motivation to achieve good performances.

Volleyball sessions are also a good way to motivate the kids to work for the collective by creating mixed teams, whether it is by mixing girls and boys, or putting together pupils showing a different level of performance. The kids are always grateful for the opportunity and satisfied with their work. The students really like the CEV School Project activities and are sorry if the module ends after six hours. As a souvenir, they ask for an autograph on a T-shirt, on their shoes or directly on the hand. This is an example of the fact that the playful form makes sense, especially to make sure that kids learn to move more and to work as a team as well.
