Erlind Pëllumbi takes over reins of Balkan Volleyball family

The annual General Assembly of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA), the ‘oldest’ of all Zonal Associations in Europe, was held on Friday, February 2, in Sofia. As per the established tradition, the chairmanship of the BVA changes from year to year according to a rotation whereby the leadership is transferred from member to member. According to this key principle, the BVA General Assembly elected Mr Erlind Pëllumbi as their new President. Mr Pëllumbi, who has been leading the Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) for some years, takes over the reins of the BVA from his Bulgarian counterpart, Lubomir Ganev.

The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation did welcome members of the Balkan Volleyball family at the Millennium Hotel in Sofia. The zonal gathering was attended also by CEV President Aleksandar Boričić and CEV Senior Vice-President, Renato Arena.
Aleksandar Boričić“I am very happy with the organisation of this General Assembly. There is no other regional association where 10 out of 11 National Federation Presidents are present at such a meeting. The BVA and its members are working very hard and performing well. The main goal of the Balkan Volleyball Association remains to work with the youth and to foster their development."

“The assembly here in Sofia went very well. The Balkan Volleyball Association does really stand out in the European Volleyball family. The best is the way they work with the younger generations. There is always room for further development, but the most important thing is to pay attention to the younger generations. Volleyball is a very attractive sport for both girls and boys,” Mr Arena added.
Erlind Pëllumbi“It is a great honour for me to be elected as President of the Balkan Volleyball Association. This is also a very important step for my country. I cannot say just yet what we will be able to do and achieve throughout this coming year. Volleyball in Albania is developing step by step, year after year. Now I have a new project related to Volleyball in schools. This is a very ambitious undertaking."
