EEVZA member countries hold annual meeting in Arnhem

Representatives of the EEVZA National Federations had their annual general meeting on Thursday, shortly after completion of the XLIII CEV General Assembly held in Arnhem. With the only exception of Russia and Belarus, whose teams and athletes are currently ineligible to contest European competitions, all EEVZA members had sent their delegates to the Netherlands. CEV Vice-President and Treasurer, Mr Eric Adler, and the President of the CEV Working Group Development & Cooperation with Zonal Associations, Mr Özkan Mutlugil, attended the meeting as well.

The discussions revolved around the forthcoming EEVZA age-group championships, which are due to take place in November, changes to the Competitions Regulations and financial items as well. Moreover, the attendees discussed cooperation among member Federations, acknowledging the challenges brought about by their geographical distribution as well as the current geopolitical situation. They all agreed on the necessity to sticking together and working hard in order to make EEVZA even stronger.

Mr Mykhaylo Melnyk, President of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation, will continue to serve as EEVZA President following an election where he received as many as 8 of the votes cast – in a two-man run including also the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation, Mr Farid Khalilov. Darius Cerka, President of the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation, and Jacek Sek, Secretary General of the Polish Volleyball Federation, will be serving as EEVZA Vice-Presidents. Ms Inara Brokane of Latvia remains as EEVZA Secretary General for another term.
