Balkan Volleyball family celebrate BVA 20th anniversary in Budva

Budva, Montenegro, January 19, 2019. The Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA) celebrated their 20th anniversary with a General Assembly hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) at the Splendid Hotel in Budva. CEV President Aleksandar Boričić attended the historic event – as did CEV Vice President and Treasurer Özkan Mutlugil and CEV Board of Administration member, Zdeslav Barac. Montenegro’s Minister of Sports Nikola Janović was another high profile guest, as 18 delegates from the 10 BVA member countries attended the GA.
OSCG and BVA President, Mr Cvetko Pajković, chaired the meeting. After welcoming all delegates, he stressed that the BVA have as many as seven national teams competing at this year’s EuroVolley Men – which is further testament to the quality work done by the National Federations of this zonal association.

Montenegro’s Minister of Sports Nikola Janović said that the BVA and the Ministry share the same strategic goal, i.e. working closely for and with the youth. The Minister emphasised the close and good cooperation established between the Ministry and the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, reassuring the delegates that the government will continue to support the Montenegrin Volleyball family in all of their future activities and endeavours. “Montenegro’s historic qualification for EuroVolley Men is a great success and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate once more the Federation and the players,” he said. “I wish all of you a nice stay and a productive assembly.”
CEV President Aleksandar Boričić thanked Mr Janović for taking some of his time to attend the BVA General Assembly and stressed that a fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Sports is vital for each of the BVA Federations. “The BVA is the most active among the Zonal Associations in Europe and I would like to congratulate Montenegro and the F.Y.R. of Macedonia on their historic qualification for EuroVolley 2019 Men,” he said.
The Minister of Sports of Montenegro, Mr Nikola Janović, deserved a warm welcome to all delegates.
The delegates in attendance approved the 2018 activity and financial reports before it was time to decide when and where the 2019 Balkan Volleyball and Beach Volleyball competitions will be taking place:
Volleyball
Kids Festival (for boys and girls born in 2005 and 2006, respectively and younger): Serbia
Pre-Youth Boys (born in 2003 and younger): Bulgaria
Pre-Youth Girls (born in 2004 and younger): Serbia
Youth Men (born in 2001 and younger): Serbia
Youth Women (born in 2002 and younger): Bosnia and Herzegovina
Junior Men (born in 1999 and younger): Albania
Junior Women (born in 2000 and younger): TBD
Beach Volleyball
Senior: TBD
U22: Kosovo
U20: Kosovo
As for the 2019 edition of the BVA Cup, the participating teams and venues will become known after completion of the registration for the 2020 European Cups.

The President of the BVA Marketing and Development Commission, Mr Zoran Avramovic expressed his satisfaction at the number of Balkan countries due to compete at this year’s EuroVolley. “After 20 years of existence, we can say that the BVA has achieved great success, but we need to work more in terms of our cooperation with the media. I would like to congratulate the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro on the celebrations for their 60th anniversary and invite all Federations to regularly report on your events,” he said.
As per the statutes, the General Assembly ended with the election of a new President and Vice-President for the next 12 months. Mr Gheorghe Visan of Romania and Mr Zoran Gajic of Serbia will take on these posts for the next term, meaning that the next BVA General Assembly will be taking place in early 2020 in Bucharest, Romania. Moreover, the GA appointed the Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Bošković, as a new member of the BVA Technical Commission.
Mr Cvetko Pajković thanked everyone for the good cooperation and expressed the feeling that it was an honour to lead the Balkan Volleyball family for the last 12 months. Mr Boričić thanked Mr Pajković for his work and wished much success to Mr Visan and Mr Gajic in their BVA roles.
