Ropret to lead Slovenia’s Volleyball family for a fourth straight term

The Elective Assembly of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) took place this past Friday in Brezovica, where 50 delegates and proxies representing clubs from across the country elected Metod Ropret as OZS President for a fourth consecutive term.

Ropret has been at the helm of the organisation responsible for the governance of Volleyball in Slovenia since 2012. Under his leadership, Slovenian Volleyball has achieved unprecedented results with its national teams and successfully organised major international events such as the CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men, the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2022, and the CEV Champions League Volley Super Finals in 2022 as well.

Ropret, who continues to find motivation, energy, and vision for another term, is pleased with the growing recognition of Slovenian Volleyball both on the national and international stage. “In recent years, it is genuinely gratifying to be part of Slovenian Volleyball. I am surrounded by a team of people who share my vision, particularly my colleagues at the federation and beyond. We have a great team, and I believe we are heading in the right direction. The number of clubs in Slovenia is increasing year after year, and the number of teams competing in both senior and junior competitions grows with each season. In 2024, we reached a record number of children involved in Volleyball. We have proven ourselves by organising the biggest volleyball events in recent years, by delivering many promotional and development programmes, and earning recognition both in Slovenia and abroad. I am optimistic about our future and confident that these positive trends will continue,” he said. Ropret has been a member of the CEV Board of Administration since the fall of 2020 and a CEV Vice-President since earlier this year. 

The OZS is celebrating this year the 100th anniversary since the introduction of Volleyball in Slovenia.
