Over 1,000 athletes and 400 accompanying persons from 30 countries will take part in the latest edition of the largest international volleyball tournament dedicated to veterans, which is scheduled to take place in Pescara from May 19 to 24. The initiative, promoted by the IVVA – International Veteran Volleyball Association led by Adam and Přemysl Kubala, in collaboration with 4 Vele Beach Volley Academy, is an international sporting event involving former professionals, amateurs, and enthusiasts of all ages, united by the strong and inclusive message that distinguishes the association: “Age is no limit.”

The tournament, which takes place annually around the world, features numerous categories divided by age groups, both male and female, and is characterised by its high organisational quality, with rules inspired by standard official championships.

In Pescara, the courts will be set up in Piazza della Rinascita (Piazza Salotto), at the Stadio del Mare and at the headquarters of the 4 Vele Beach Volley Academy along the northern coast. This strategic choice combines urban ambiance with an excellent sporting environment, thereby enhancing the city’s tourist and cultural identity.

The official presentation of the tournament was attended by the President of the Regional Council, Lorenzo Sospiri, the Mayor of Pescara, Carlo Masci, the municipal councillor for sport, Patrizia Martelli, the representative of the strategic planning and management area of the “Gabriele d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Luciano De Luca, the technical director of IVVA Tournament Pescara ‘25 Memo Grosso, and the patron of the 4 Vele Beach Volley Academy, Luigi Alfieri.

Founded in 2015, IVVA is one of the most active and rapidly expanding organisations on the international sports scene. Among its promoters is Czech Olympian Přemysl Kubala. The long-term goal is clear: to host the first official World Veterans Volleyball Championship.

The tournament in Pescara is not only a sporting competition, but also an opportunity for discussion, growth, and sharing, in an extraordinary setting that combines sport, tourism, and quality of life. It will be a week of sport and conviviality, but also an opportunity to promote sports tourism and the culture of active aging.
