The women’s national team of Serbia, recently crowned back-to-back World Champions, landed on Sunday at noon at Belgrade “Nikola Tesla” airport and immediately travelled to Hotel M in the Serbian capital, the real ‘home’ of all Serbian national teams. There, they received a special welcome from representatives of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia and the general sponsor Banka Poštanska Štedionica (National Savings Bank).
On that occasion, the team captain, Tijana Bošković, team setter, Bojana Drča, and the head coach, Daniele Santarelli, addressed the public and media in a ceremony broadcasted live on the main channel of the Serbian National television (RTS).
After that, the team moved to Belgrade city centre, and more specifically to the famous balcony of the Belgrade City Hall, where more than ten thousand people waited to see their champions.
The magnificent day ended with all players and staff members appearing in front of the fans, while cheering and singing with them.
This past Saturday, Team Serbia retained their women’s World Championship title in Apeldoorn, completing a clean run in the competition with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Brazil in the gold medal match.
