Gernot Leitner to lead Austrian Volleyball family for another two-year term

Gernot Leitner has been unanimously re-elected President of the Austrian Volleyball Federation (ÖVV) for the next two years following the organisation’s General Assembly held on Friday afternoon in Amstetten. In addition to the election of the members of the management board, amendments to the statutes were on the agenda as well.

As per the latest changes, the ÖVV now has a 1st Vice President/Deputy President, with Michael Horvath fulfilling this role. Furthermore, adjustments were made based on the Good Governance Initiative started by the ÖVV. 

Leitner, who has also been a member of the CEV Board of Administration since the fall of 2020, said: 

“It is of course an honour to be unanimously re-elected - now for the fifth time. We have worked well, are financially stable, successful in sports, but of course there is always more to be done. I am looking forward to the next two years and I am confident that we will set further milestones!”


The ÖVV Board 2024 to 2026 includes: 
•    President: Gernot Leitner  
•    1st Vice President / Deputy President: Michael Horvath 
•    Vice President Administration and Finance: Markus Petsche 
•    Vice President Representative of State Associations: Christian Mairhofer  
•    Vice President Beach Volleyball: Viktoria Mair 
•    Vice President National Leagues: Frederick Laure 
•    Vice President Athletes’ Representative: Maximilian Thaller 

The ÖVV General Assembly was held in Amstetten next to the last round of preliminary action in the men’s European Silver League 2024, with Austria and Israel already sure of their spots in the final scheduled for next week (June 13) in Ried im Innkreis.
