Ganev re-elected BVF President without opposition
News
This past weekend, Lubomir Ganev was unanimously re-elected President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF). His only competitor, Ivan Seferinov, failed to make it to the Board of Administration of the Federation and thus his ability and eligibility to run for the presidency was lost.
As many as 115 delegates from 134 members of the Federation registered for participation in the BVF General Assembly. Ganev was re-elected without opposition. His mandate will be for the next four years. Petar Kanev collected the most votes for the Board of Administration – 105. Ganev was left with two less.
The remaining members are Zhivko Zhelev, Stanislav Nikolov, Iliya Dinkov, Ivaylo Konstantinov, Borislav Kyosev, Ognyan Tomov, Alexander Popov, Deyan Ninov, Krasimir Iliev, Sasho Yovkov, Nikolay Ivanov, Dimo Tonev, Alexander Ivanov, Velislav Yonev, and Milko Bagdasarov.
The meeting started with an activity report for the last four years and with the plan to adopt a programme for the next quadrennium. Following this, the President and the members of the Board were discharged from their functions. The most important point was the election of a new Board of Administration. The first Vice-President of the federation will be Petar Kanev. Ganev’s other deputies are Dinkov as Second Vice-President, and Kyosev, Zhelev and Konstantinov as Vice-Presidents.
Lubomir Ganev"For the first time, 115 clubs attended the General Assembly. Since I have been in the Federation, there have never been so many clubs. Both the report and the new programme were adopted with complete unanimity. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Soon you will see it officially announced. We need to improve what we have been doing so far. Let’s focus on children’s and youth Volleyball. Let’s improve the preparation of the national teams."
Zhivko Zhelev is the President of the National Volleyball League Commission. Aleksandar Vinaliev is the President of the Refereeing Commission. David Davidov has become the President of the Children’s Volleyball Commission. “He has a place in our sport, and it does not matter that he is not a member of the Board of Administration, he will most likely remain the President of the Marketing Commission. All three now have the full opportunity to work,” Ganev added.
Immediately after the entry in the Commercial Register, the first meeting of the Board of Administration will take place. All members will be invited to the Super Cup matches scheduled for October 12 and 13.
“All the people present here have been brought together by Volleyball. Naturally, we have learned from the mistakes we have made. We started making changes more than a month ago. I mean where we realised that we were not good enough. Whoever stands in front must work. The clubs chose the most correct people who can complete the tasks. The rating is more than good for the work done. But believe me - we did a lot of work with colleagues from the Board of Administration. If I had to describe it, it would take me days, not hours. After all, we are united by Volleyball. We continue to look for partners of all kinds. The funds we have are far less than what we need but we continue to work,” Ganev continued. “For me, all the doors of ministries and institutions are open. I will continue to do my best. And I will be even more demanding of the members of the Board. I can work with anyone and get along with everyone. We have appointed two new employees in the federation to work in the Children’s and Youth Volleyball Department. We have over 2,500 matches there each year.”
“Our goal is for all commissions to operate like the National Volleyball League, which is growing at its best and has raised the level of work that the other commissions have not been able to follow. If I see that the clubs do not want me to be president, I will leave by myself. We met Ivan Seferinov even before the meeting. I told him that there is a place in Bulgarian Volleyball for him. Today’s General Assembly was not ‘this one against that’, but to unite. Until a month and a half ago, I did not know if I would run for the presidency. I am doing it from the heart. Neither I, nor anyone from the Board receives a salary,” Ganev added.
Ganev pointed that according to the BVF statutes, one president cannot serve for more than two terms. And in four years, he will no longer be the President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation.
Last week, the FIVB inspected the new hall in Burgas. There will be a Men’s Volleyball Nations League tournament there next June. A decision on the coach of the women’s national team will be made by the Board of Administration since Lorenzo Micelli’s contract has expired. Each of the new members will be able to propose applications and then a decision will be made as to who will be the new coach. This also applies to all youth coaches, where there is none yet.
“I wish success to the new Board of Administration. Let us work together for the prosperity of Bulgarian Volleyball,” Ganev concluded.
