The 22nd session of the Croatian Volleyball Association (HOS) General Assembly did end with the confirmation that Mr Frane Žanić will continue to lead the organisation as their President. Žanić expressed his gratitude to the delegates for the renewed trust, acknowledging the challenges and successes of the past year, including the premature loss of former HOS President Ante Baković, a truly outstanding figure in Croatian Volleyball.
The re-elected President emphasised the importance of focusing on younger players to strengthen the position of Volleyball inside Croatia and on the international stage as well. Moreover, Žanić outlined the ambitions of the men’s national team to qualify for the FIVB Challenger Cup and eventually for the elite FIVB Volleyball Nations League, which would represent a truly significant achievement. For the women’s team, he highlighted the need for integrating younger players to enhance its competitiveness in advance of upcoming major championships.
The Board of Directors, with Frane Žanić as President, includes Petar Sprcic as deputy, Josip Skoric as 1st Vice-President, Vlado Bagaric as 2nd Vice-President, and Zenka Urlic as 3rd Vice-President. Additional Board members are Arduino Popovic, Zeljko Jurcevic, Dragutin Novak, Vladimir Brnecic, Vedran Juravic, Dusko Zivkovic, Kristina Krpina, Mladen Plese, Ksenija Vrzina, and Sandra Baturina.
This coming summer, Croatia will be playing host to the Final Four of the men’s European Golden League. Other events that the Croatian Volleyball family looks forward to with much anticipation include the U18 and U20 Women’s European Championships, and the CEV EuroVolley 2026 Women qualifiers.
