Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, February 27, 2019. Since Sunday evening, representatives of the CEV’s Technical and Development Department and European Coaches Commission have been in the Faroe Islands to pay a visit to the Faroese Volleyball Association.
The CEV representatives are Vuk Karanovic, Technical and Development Department Manager and Thomas Bro-Rasmussen (DEN), Secretary of the European Coaches Commission (ECOC).
The purpose of the stay was to visit activities relating to the School Volley project, which the Faroese Volleyball Association is running in schools throughout the country. Last month, the project won the Faroese Sports Federation’s ‘Campaign of the Year’ award for the initiative.
During their stay in the Faroe Islands, the CEV delegates, together with the School Project leaders Anne Frederiksen and Peter Morell, visited several schools and volleyball clubs, and watched the pupils practicing together with their teachers as well as school tournaments.
The CEV delegation paid a visit to the schools of Runavík, Vestmanna and Sørvágur and to the volleyball clubs of ÍF Fuglafjørður and Fleyr Tórshavn.
With the bonus of good weather on Tuesday evening, the delegation joined a guided tour in the old part of Tórshavn, getting an introduction to the history of the capital and the Faroe Islands as a whole. The CEV delegation left the islands earlier today.
