All-time record of applications for Youth Leagues in Istanbul
News
For the second year in a row, the number of applications received for the Youth Leagues run under the auspices of the Turkish Volleyball Federation broke the previous all-time record.
After playing host, and with much success, to many major international events, the Turkish Volleyball Federation is achieving unprecedented success through their domestic Youth Volleyball Leagues as well. With millions of tourists travelling to the city every year, Istanbul is the country’s Volleyball ‘Mecca’ as well. With a population of some 16 million, Istanbul hosts a record 11,000 Volleyball matches a year.
The Istanbul Volleyball Provincial Representative Office, which organises the Youth Volleyball League, has received a record number of applications for the 2022/2023 season with the figure standing at 1,300. This accounts for the highest such number in the competition’s history.
Mr Mehmet Akif Üstündağ, President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, is extremely happy with the result, as it further cements the steady development of Volleyball in the country and it opens promising perspectives for the years ahead as well.
