Youth Volleyball showcased at Festival of Sport in Azerbaijan

As many as eight teams per gender represented Volleyball at the annual ‘Festival of Sport’ organised by the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan – which did run from November 12 to 20 at Sheki Olympic Complex, with participation of the country’s Minister of Sport, Mr Farid Gayibov, and his deputy, Ms Mariana Vasileva.

This was a major highlight for kids involved in the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ in the ‘Land of Fire’, with additional youth activities organised in Baku specifically for those aged 10 to 14, which took place in the Azerbaijani capital on November 27.

A tournament for the same age group is scheduled for early December in conjunction with the 100^th anniversary of the birth of the country’s founding father and long-time leader, Heydar Aliyev. The event will include regional stages due to run in the regions of Gusar, Shaki and Ganja, followed by a final stage in Baku. Kids from nine clubs – Murov, Azerrail, Absheron, Soik, Xatai, Qusar, Shaki, Ganja, and UNEK – are due to contest the competition.
