The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation has been running a youth competition in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’. The event was open to eight teams per gender featuring players under the age of 14. Action started on October 29 and reached its climax a few days later, with the final matches.

After the last matches, all players received specially designed medals and diplomas – as well as balls – 10 for each team. Following the event held in Shaki, the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation is planning to run more such tournaments in another two regions.
More in a long-term perspective, and with the support of the Ministry of Sport, the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation has started the construction works for a volleyball facility in the country’s second largest city, Ganja, so that more infrastructure is available for local schools to run Volleyball classes. Back in 2017, Ganja hosted EuroVolley 2017 Women matches – when the continental event historically took place in Azerbaijan and neighbouring Georgia.
