Young Leaders inspired to teach Volleyball to primary school kids in Scotland
News
The CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ continues to develop in Scotland as the indoor season is in full swing.
Regional Development and National Pathways Officer Blair Pettigrew has been working with schools in the west of Scotland to increase participation and development. Specifically, Blair has been working in Gleniffer High School, based in Paisley, Glasgow, with their Young Leaders Programme. As many as 28 pupils took part in the course, which concluded on October 26, and Blair taught participants how to adapt and play Volleyball without a net or a ball as the young leaders involved continue to prepare themselves to deliver to local primary schools in the area over the next few weeks.
The schools PE Faculty Head is now delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to local secondary and primary PE teachers, based on some of the content Blair taught and from their recent participation in the CEV Coaches Convention in Skopje.
Future planning has also begun, with dates set for some festive-themed school festivals in the coming months. The project staff group at Scottish Volleyball are looking forward to getting back into delivering to schools all over Scotland!
