Webinar on “Engagement through Gamification” to open seventh School Project series
News
The seventh webinar series organised by the CEV Technical and Development Department in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ will get underway this coming Thursday, May 12, with a session hosted by Bulgarian Volleyball expert Nikola Dimitrov.
Discussing “Engagement through Gamification”, Dimitrov will show how coaches and physical education teachers working at the grassroots level can integrate games within Volleyball exercises, thus making the learning process a lot more fun and even facilitating positive physiological effects. These include strengthening neural synapses in the brain and increasing dopamine, which inspires the children’s desire to grow and improve.
Nikola will identify and define four different types of players by looking at their characteristics and what engages them. In this session, Dimitrov will emphasise that game dynamics and mechanics are the foundation that coaches and PE teachers can build upon in order to achieve success with their students. Dynamics imply the use of rewards, status, achievements, self-expression, while key mechanics include points and badges, levels, challenges or missions.

The Bulgarian expert, who recently attended the historic Euro-Asia Coaches Cooperation programme held in Bangkok, will provide some real-life practical examples of gamification in a kids’ tournament, such as its structure and the notable outcomes for all participants involved, even including parents.
If you have not done so already, sign up to join the webinar via this link! The CEV Technical and Development Department will be providing you the link to the relevant Zoom call in due course.
