Dublin, Ireland, November 12, 2019. Volleyball Ireland’s CEV Schools Project is in full swing in Cork City, with an innovative partnership between the Local Sports Partnership, Volleyball Ireland and the CEV.
The initiative sees the CEV provide equipment for 14 schools in the catchment area of Volleyball Ireland club ‘Net Force’. Whilst the Governing Body provide teacher training and competitions, Cork Sports ensure a local link between the schools and the club. The model has proven popular with over 20 schools now actively promoting Volleyball in the region, and participation in the club is growing.
Last week, Cork Sports Development Officer James Kirkby and Volleyball Ireland General Manager Gary Stewart met with a range of schools handing out equipment to delighted pupils.
“We are eternally grateful to Cork Sports for the local contacts and the CEV for their strategic vision for this project that is helping develop youth Volleyball,” Stewart said. “It is a great initiative for schools and clubs to sign up to with benefits for all involved.”
Each school has received teacher training, and can now look forward to a fun tournament on December 3.
