The highly successful EKO mini volleyball league organised by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ did continue this past December with two weekends of exciting action involving some 900 children. The league is drawing much attention across the Balkan country with results and photos published every Tuesday in the Pobjeda daily newspaper.

Moreover, the OSCG has further expanded the reach of their ‘Free Volleyball School’ programme. At the Salko Aljkovic Elementary School in Pljevlja, former elite player Ivan Jecmenica held a training session for local students. Following this positive experience, Jecmenica has expressed his willingness to continue assisting in the education of children and teachers at the grassroots level.

In the city of Bijelo Polje, the Dušan Korac Elementary School recently joined the programme. This school lies in the city centre, in newly built premises with an outstanding hall. Around 15 boys have enrolled in the ‘Free Volleyball School’.

Children from the 9th May Elementary School in Bijelo Polje involved in the same programme have participated in local and regional competitions designed for the northern section of the Balkan country, securing first place and qualifying for the national school competition where they eventually finished second under the guidance of teacher and coach Dragan Maškovic.
