This past weekend, the annual Olympic Festival was held in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, where nearly 50 sports, including Volleyball, were introduced to as many as 8,000 young participants. The children ranked the volleyball challenge among the event’s top three favourite sports challenges that they could join.

The National Olympic Committee of Slovenia organised this year’s festival on October 7 and 8. Almost 50 sports disciplines were showcased on Congress Square and in Zvezda Park, thereby offering a variety of sports challenges for children of all ages. Among them, as always, Volleyball was a major hit.

Almost 8,000 participants attended the two-day event in the centre of Ljubljana, and nearly 3,000 children of all ages completed at least 25 sports challenges. The volleyball section of the festival was presented in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ – aka Rasti z odbojko, which provided kids with a truly immersive experience. Very experienced coaches were on hand to guide and instruct the participants, helping them develop their skills and a better understanding of the game. From the basics of serving and passing to more advanced techniques like setting and spiking, the children had the opportunity to learn from the best.

The kids very much enjoyed their time on the volleyball court, as evidenced by their selection of the volleyball challenge as one of the festival’s top three attractions. More specifically, Volleyball secured the second spot in popularity, ranking just behind kayaking and ahead of boxing.

The Olympic Festival for kids in Ljubljana not only promoted a healthy and active lifestyle among children but also fostered a sense of unity and sportsmanship. The event’s success and popularity of sports like Volleyball demonstrated the enduring appeal of physical activity and competition in the lives of young people.
