VFA takes School Project to pupils of Kaputan community
News
Representatives of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), including Secretary General Karen Asmaryan, and the Head of Volleyball in Kotayk Province, Mr Andranik Tadevosyan, recently visited the school of the Kaputan community as they further expand the reach of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ across the Caucasus country.
The children study in the Kaputan school where they deal with rather challenging and poor conditions, but they always participate in volleyball training as well as in other physical education activities with great pleasure and much enthusiasm. Very soon a new school will be built in the community and the conditions shall improve significantly for PE classes and other activities in their curriculum too.
The VFA is paying increased attention to the implementation of the programme in such schools, thereby supporting children in rather disadvantaged areas also through the provision of high-quality sports equipment.
The Volleyball Federation of Armenia has devised ambitious plans for the 2024-2025 school year and more specifically it intends to visit villages and volleyball teams in more remote regions of the country, which usually train in quite bad conditions. The School Project shall help improve the standards locally and inspire more youngsters to play the game.
Back to the visit to Kaputan, a volleyball session was delivered by the VFA with a focus on students from the fifth grade. They all got acquainted with the rules of the game and performed some basic exercises as well. The best performing kids were awarded with officials medals of the VFA programme. Moreover, sports equipment has been provided to the school to ensure a long-lasting legacy from this first visit.
