In January, a variety of CEV School Project activities have taken place in schools across the Istrian County, Croatia, where local project coordinator Dragan Salapura was very active.

As part of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’, a trial training was organised in Poreč Elementary School with the children of the seventh grade. Local PE teacher, Iva Šarac, who is a former Poreč Volleyball Club player, played an active role in the session delivery. The visit from the project coordinator made her especially happy since she is working hard to bring Volleyball closer to the children at her school.

In the first part of the session, Mr Salapura together with the children performed some specific movements to develop their coordination and speed with the ball, while in the second half of the class, there was a demonstration of more specific volleyball elements. The practice was held in a good and friendly atmosphere, especially in the end when the kids played fun games.

The second school visited in January was Joakim Rakovac elementary school in Sveti Lovreč where Mr Salapura delivered a similar session as well. Physical education teacher Mario Lukin actively participated in the training, which was attended by the school principal Mladen Majušević as well.

Moreover, Salapura delivered a practical training at the Italian elementary school Edmondo De Amicis in Buje, where his assistant was physical education teacher Manisa Njegomir. After doing some warm-up exercises with the ball, the kids performed the demonstration training in three groups working at the net with the help of tapes and balloons. At the end, as always, they played fun games where the pupils could apply everything they had tried and learned during the training.
