Scottish Volleyball have had a busy month preparing for the return of the CEV School Project for the 2022-2023 season. Three teachers from partner schools, together with the East and West Regional Development Officers, made the annual trip to the CEV Coaches Convention, this year held in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Scottish Volleyball delegates had the opportunity to meet like-minded teachers, coaches and organisations to learn further about how to develop Volleyball from the school level up. A mix of both practical and theory inputs from USA Volleyball’s John Kessel and Thai Volleyball’s Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai were truly inspirational, and all five attendees spoke highly of the experience, with one teacher noting the invaluable information he learned on the trip had already made its way into the school at their after-school Volleyball club.

Veronica Rusich, Regional Development Officer for the East of Scotland, and National Clubs Officer said,

“It was an invaluable experience. The speakers brought new perspectives to the table, and it was worth the long journey to Skopje. North Macedonia is a beautiful country, and the organisation of the convention was impeccable. John Kessel approach to Volleyball is completely different to what I have seen in the past, so I welcome his teachings and hopefully I will be able to put them in practice when delivering our programmes in Scotland.”

Back in Scotland, Scottish Volleyball are preparing for another busy year of school Volleyball. After a delivery of CEV funded bands and kids volleyballs, the association have been working out the best way to distribute them amongst the partner schools. Plans are already in place for schools’ festivals across the country to take place in the next few months, and the Regional Development Officers and CEV School Project lead are excited to get stuck in!
