A Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) delegation recently paid a visit to the Primary School No. 4 named after Grigor Ghapantsyan in the city of Ashtarak, Aragatsotn Province. Ashtarak is regarded as one of the largest Volleyball schools and hubs in Armenia, where Zhanna Bondareva, a coach from one of the local schools and a sports school, is actively involved in coaching and organising Volleyball activities. Bondareva has twice participated in the Coaches Convention annually organised by the CEV in conjunction with the School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

A training session was held with the students from the fifth grade, during which the pupils mastered some basic technical skills and got acquainted with the rules of the game.

One of the best volleyball players from Ashtarak, who is also a member of the Armenian national team, Amalya Karapetyan, attended the training session as well. In early March, Karapetyan represented Armenia in the first edition of #EuroSnowVolleyU20 held last year in Bakuriani, Georgia, together with Milena and Elizaveta Tonoyan and Nelli Khachatryan.

After the workshop, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia provided the school with balls and a band to continue inspiring the local kids to play Volleyball and nurture their love for the game.
