The activities run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ by the Icelandic Volleyball Association (BLI) did experience a real surge in Aril, when among other things a tournament involving school teams from all over the country was held in Kópavogur, with participation of as many as 80 young girls.

Later in April, additional youth events took place in Húsavík, a town in the northern section of the country, this time open to young players aged 11 to 16. Some 48 boys and an impressive number of 128 girls played throughout the weekend from April 14 to 16.

The BLI did run an online webinar with 17 teachers from six schools based in Reykjavik, which are all due to contest the large school event scheduled for May 22. This way the teachers were able to make plans for their students to prepare for such a major competition with four straight weeks of volleyball classes.
