School Project ignites volleyball fire among Danish pupils

CEV School Project activities continued in February in Denmark as well – with visits paid to three schools, where many kids had their very first, unforgettable experience with the volleyball game.
At Rude Skov school, kids from the fourth grade were introduced to Kidsvolley through as many as six lessons. It has been a highly rewarding experience to introduce so many children to Kidsvolley with the help of the CEV School Project and the school is already planning additional such courses for other groups.
Havndal Volleyball Club has developed a good collaboration with the school Havndal Children’s Village. For two Wednesdays, instructors spent time with students from grades 0 to 3, teaching them to play Kidsvolley Level 1 – and these sessions were followed by another two days / visits involving students from grades 4-6. “It feels great to see how quickly the kids learn and how happy they get with the game,” said the organisers. The provision of balls to the school is very valuable so they can continue to play the game with good equipment. The delegates from Havndal club hope to see many of the students playing in the club after school anytime soon.
No one knew about Kidsvolley at Provstegårdskolen before Volleyball Denmark came to visit them with balls and bands provided by the CEV. It was a very good start, as the local teachers were taught how to use the bands to get many lanes in a hall, and thus involve as many students as possible at the same time. After an introduction for the teachers working with Grade 5, all groups from Grades 1-6 are now engaged in a course with kids and teen volleyball. Both students and teachers really welcomed the action, which for them was completely new. The Volleyball Denmark delegation hopes that Volleyball can win their hearts so that they will want to play the game in one of the local clubs.
