Three more private schools joined the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ in Georgia this past month. With this, Volleyball is becoming more and more popular in the Caucasus country. Moreover, a school competition that had started earlier in the year continued in December too.

To facilitate the work at the ‘new’ schools, the Georgian Volleyball Federation sent young coaches and offered to help them to make sure that Volleyball activities would get underway in the best possible conditions. Moreover, special training sessions have taken place for coaches and PE teachers, so that in the month of January, when coming back from the holiday season, the kids would start anew.

The school league continues with schools that have been involved in the programme for longer and with newcomers too. These school leagues feature not only Volleyball, but handball and basketball as well. Most of the participating schools come from central Georgia and the country’s capital, Tbilisi.

The growth in participation and in the love for Volleyball has been remarkable throughout 2023 and the Georgian Volleyball Federation is confident that such a virtuous process will continue in 2024 as well.
