School Project fulfilling its mission with hundreds of kids inspired to play the game in Bulgaria

With the start of the new school year, the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ in Bulgaria continues its mission to get children and youth interested in playing Volleyball.
In September, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation embarked on a nationwide tour with special events organised at five elementary schools in just as many cities, thus reaching over 500 children and youngsters. The respective local Volleyball clubs strongly supported the delivery of these events – as did physical education teachers, as well as the school and city authorities. The project also received strong support from Volleyball legends, the President and the Vice-President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation.
The five events organised in September took place in the cities of Sandanski, Berkovitsa, Pernik, Sofia and Pazardzhik.
The tour started on September 19 with a stop in the city of Sandanski, where the project provided over 30 children with the opportunity to feel the joy of playing Volleyball. Additionally, over 300 children cheered for them around the court.
On September 20, the project moved to the city of Berkovitsa. A week later, a special event took place in a second school in the city of Sofia, after the start of the project in SU 81 'Victor Hugo’ back in May. Young players from the VASK Volleyball club conducted training sessions with fifth graders.
On September 28, 2022, a newly founded Volleyball club in the city of Pernik joined the project, with 30 children signing up for the club right after the school event. This proved that the project really sparks the interest of the children in playing Volleyball.
Finally, on September 29, in the city of Pazardzhik the last event of the month took place with spectacular participation of national team players, stars of the local club and coaches. Together they delivered a demonstration training session in front of over 500 children at the local school.
The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has launched a dedicated website www.schoolvolley.bg specifically to promote their CEV School Project activities.
