The activities run by the Faroese Volleyball Association (FBF) in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ have gained further traction, with an impressive number of school visits organised throughout the month of November. The Faroese Volleyball Association is delivering such activities in close cooperation with the Faroese Sports Association (ISF).

The period for school visits extends over three months from November to February, thereby involving a total of 30 classes and 20 schools. The 20 schools involved in the project will receive a teaching package consisting of a four-lesson Kidsvolley manual, plus one teaching module per class with a Kidsvolley specialist from the local volleyball club. In addition to that, the schools receive from 5-10 balls and four nets. In November alone, the FBF and ISF organised 11 school visits, securing the participation of some 255 students in the process.

The CEV School Project activities in 2022-2023 are targeted specifically at fourth graders. In the four modules designed for them, students must learn the following skills:

  • To serve the ball over the net
  • To play an underarm pass to themselves and to another player
  • To play an overhand pass to themselves and to another player
  • To stand on the ground and smash a ball over the net
  • To know the rules for Kidsvolley level 2 and be able to play level 2
  • To collaborate on individual exercises and games
  • To know the words used in Kidsvolley and the overall concept of Kidsvolley

In working with Kidsvolley at school, the Faroese Volleyball Association base their work on the following basic principles:

  • It should be fun
  • There must be challenges for all students
  • The students must sweat and move frequently
  • Exercises and technique must suit the children’s level of motor development.
