The CEV School Project, aka Rasti z odbojko, has resumed in Slovenia with a public tender offering as many as 300 balls and 60 net bands to Slovenian volleyball clubs, members of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia that are closely cooperating with elementary schools through the organisation of extracurricular activities for the 2023-2024 school year.

Six new clubs applied to the tender: these are Goriski sportni klub, Klub moderne odbojke, OK Semic, OK Sezana, ZOK Tabor Ljubljana, and ZOK Vuzenica, thus joining 46 clubs that are already included in the programme. Altogether, 20 new schools have entered the project, together with one educational institution for kids with special needs, two club schools (the Volleyball school of Club moderne odbojke and Volleyball school Nova Gorica), and Volleyball school Mozic.
Three schools that already participated in the project in the past (OS Mozirje, OS Nazarje, and OS Recica ob Savinji) received new balls and net bands as a part of further help to cope with the effects of the devastating floods that hit the area earlier this summer.
The distribution of the equipment (10 balls and two net bands for each school) is in full swing, as two-thirds of the clubs have already collected it.
Five Slovenian coaches attended the CEV Coaches Convention held in Sofia, Bulgaria (Angelina Ajnihar, Tjasa Jancar, Gregor Miko, Jaka Pavlin, and Spasoje Todorovic) this past September. They are working in five different Slovenian regions and each of the coaches must hold at least one workshop before the end of 2023 to pass new knowledge on to their colleagues.
“All theory and practice will be of great use to us in the future. We believe that attending the convention was an extremely good opportunity to exchange opinions and knowledge and, above all, to upgrade our level of understanding of youth Volleyball. The lecturers were excellent as well as the organisation of the event,” they said upon their return from Sofia.
The traditional Olympic Festival where the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia gets the chance to present the CEV School Project and Volleyball to children from four to 12 years of age scheduled for late September was postponed to October due to inclement weather.
In September, the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia found an agreement with one of the Slovenian companies interested in becoming a partner of the CEV School Project in the country. The co-operation will be officially announced later this month.
