School Project activities gain further traction in Slovenia
News
In Slovenian elementary schools, extra-curricular activities started in October and will finish in the middle of May. The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) and local clubs have already distributed almost 300 balls and 60 net bands to all 20 schools that have joined the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ for the 2023-2024 school year in addition to one educational institution for kids with special needs and two club volleyball schools.
In addition to extra-curricular activities, some of the clubs – OS Srecka Kosovela Sezana and OK Lendava – have decided to present Volleyball through small events for each school class separately.
The traditional annual Olympic Festival was the main event in October for the people in charge of the CEV School Project in Slovenia. Almost 8,000 participants attended the two-day event in the centre of Ljubljana, and nearly 3,000 children of all ages completed at least 25 sports challenges out of the 50 available. Children ranked the volleyball challenge among the event’s top three favourite sports (click here for further information).
Meanwhile, the National Federation has decided to gather the most important data regarding the work of clubs involved in the project to properly address any issues that the partners are experiencing. The complete report is likely to be available at the end of November.
In October, the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia signed a contract with VBO, which has become the general sponsor of the CEV School Project in Slovenia (click here for further details). The cooperation was later expanded and VBO will be donating 2 € of each special edition Rok Možič toothbrush for the development of Slovenian Volleyball. Slovenian national team member and rising star Rok Možič has accepted the role of CEV School Volleyball ambassador (see here).
The next major planned activities are scheduled for December 10, 2023, with an U11 event in Maribor (300 kids expected) – January 7 with another U11 event in Sempeter v Savinjski dolini (where the organisers predict the attendance of some 800 kids!) followed by a similar action in Radovljica on March 10, with participation of about 450 children.
