Gomel/Mogilev, Belarus, December 30, 2020. On Monday, schools from two regions in the Republic of Belarus – Gomel and Mogilev – took over the baton in the organisation of Volleyball masterclasses in conjunction with the CEV’s School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’. This is proof to the fact that the Belarus Volleyball Federation continues to work hard to grow the game at the grassroots level.

The School Project visited as many as four secondary schools in Mogilev - secondary schools no. 46, no. 18, no. 39, and no. 8 – as well as the secondary school no. 28 in the city of Bobruisk. The kids from each school were able to learn to play the game with the help of the equipment provided by the Belarus Volleyball Federation and CEV. Moreover, the players of the Kommunalnik MOGILEV team delivered a masterclass of all volleyball skills to the students.

Polina Melnikova, a student attending secondary school no. 8, shared her impressions of the event with a bright smile on her face: “We could learn a lot from the Volleyball players of Kommunalnik, especially how to develop teamwork as well as exercises to improve our technique. Today we were able to see what real Volleyball is all about.”

A fourth school from the Gomel Region has joined the project as well, more specifically one from the city of Zhlobin. In this school, the staff and especially physical education teachers pay much attention to the development of children’s Volleyball, because among their pupils there are even members of the national team. At the end of the volleyball festival, the young players received prizes and souvenirs from the Regional Emergency Department and Zhlobin forestry.
