More than 1,000 kids involved in Ireland’s primary school championships

Volleyball Ireland launched this past month their 4v4 primary school championships. A total of 167 teams and over 1,000 students aged between 9-11 took part. There were seven blitzes held nationwide and 339 matches completed. This all was leading up to the National Primary School Finals scheduled for March 2.
The primary school programme has been a real success story and Volleyball Ireland will now aim to develop events for younger players in school environments between six and nine years of age.
The partnership and planning with the Irish Special Schools Sports Council came of fruition at the National Sports Campus on February 22. A fully booked out 96 students attended from schools around Leinster to enjoy a day of playing and learning Volleyball. This programme with be replicated now int Ireland's two other provinces - Munster and Connacht - in the coming months.

The secondary school competitional programmes begin to draw to a close as semi-finals in the School Cup and Junior Volleyball were held in February. A total of 119 games were completed to move teams one step closer to the titles.
