More than 1,000 kids gather in Šempeter for U13 event

On Saturday, April 15, the SIP Šempeter Volleyball Club organised the seventh edition of the traditional Savinjska dolina Cup - SIP d.d. OPEN 2023 tournament for girls and boys aged 13 and younger. More than 1,000 Slovenian Volleyball talents from as many as 90 teams gathered in Šempeter, Prebold, Griže, Žalec, and Braslovče and showed their skills to their parents, grandparents, and friends. A true volleyball festival which is traditionally part of the CEV School Project featured no less than 165 matches and every single of them was played in a spirit of fair play, thus achieving the most important objective.
In the girls’ competition, Nova KBM Branik claimed first place among 48 teams, Formis came second and Prochrom Bled took third place. In the boys’ category, Fužinar Sij Metal Ravne emerged victorious, ŠD Brezovica claimed the silver medal, and the bronze went to Merkur Maribor.
In the beginners’ category, featuring 24 teams, the most knowledge and skills were shown by the home team SIP Šempeter II, the second place went to Mislinja II, while Vital Ljubljana IV reached third place.
The trophies and medals were awarded by the Sports Director of OK SIP Šempeter Sebastjan Cilenšek, and former national team player Mojca Božič. The matches were officiated by the referees from DOS Žalec and OK SIP Šempeter, and all of them did their job very well.
The organisers from Šempeter with the support of many sponsors and donors once again carried out an excellent event.
