More schools and children showing interest in Volleyball across Georgia
News
As the school year in Georgia starts in the middle of September, activities run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ have slowly but surely resumed in the Caucasus country as well.
The number of schools involved in the programme is growing, with seven having started their volleyball activities already, so the Georgian Volleyball Federation has sent eight coaches to work with their respective pupils. Kids had started to train with local teachers with a focus on the first, simple basic steps on how to play the game. Five of these schools had already taken part in the project last year, whereas two have just joined and so coaches focussed on how to organise and run Volleyball there and on which further steps to take throughout the school year.
This past September, the Georgian Volleyball Federation organised a meeting with the School Academy managers, with the goal of delivering inter-school competitions. By the end of September, a couple of such friendly matches had taken place already.
The work done during the month of September revolved mainly around planning the upcoming months with the schools and as there are new schools joining and more and more children showing an interest in playing Volleyball, the month of October would be used to implement the first basic steps together with all partners.
