Levski crowned themselves the champions among girls and Italy’s Diavoli Rosa did the same for boys at the third international volleyball tournament ‘A1 Stars of the Future’ organised in Sofia. Some 12 highly talented under-16 teams from five strong Volleyball nations – Bulgaria, Italy, Poland, Russia, and Serbia – participated in the competition held at the Levski Sofia sports hall in the Bulgarian capital city.

The home side of Levski won the head-to-head battle for first place against Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod in straight sets. Poland’s Stezyca pulled off a 2-1 win over Bulgaria’s CPVK to finish third, leaving their rivals in fourth place. Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda defeated Italy’s Perugia 3-0 to take the fifth position in the final standing.

Italy’s Diavoli Rosa won the undisputed first place for the boys with five wins in as many matches without dropping a single set. In their final match, the eventual champions defeated Crvena Zvezda. In a direct match for the second place, Russia’s Torch edged hosts Levski 2-1, who therefore finished the competition in third place. Lyulin won 3-0 over Beroe and took the fourth position, while the boys from Stara Zagora ended up in fifth place.

The MVP of the boys’ tournament was Lorenzo Moro of Diavoli Rosa. Apart from him, Daniele Volpara (Diavoli Rosa), Semyon Kapranov (Fakel), Ivaylo Donov (Levski), Anton Veselinov (Lyulin), Veselin Kokalov (Beroe) and Kosta Popovic (Crvena Zvezda) were selected in the ideal team of the tournament.

Andriana Goleva from Levski became the MVP of the girls’ tournament. In addition to her, Ivayla Rikova (Levski), Olga Solovyova (Nizhny Novgorod), Yulia Yakimiak (Stezyca), Kalina Veneva (CPVK), Lana Bataz (Crvena Zvezda) and Eleonora Chebili (Perugia) completed the Dream Team.

The ‘A1 Stars of the Future’ tournament was held with the support of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation and under the auspices of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

Three new schools have joined CEV School Project

In the city of Belitsa, enthusiastic teachers who have formed six groups of teenagers practicing Volleyball at the local school have joined the CEV School Project. The goal is to form a new club that will reap success at the national level in the future.

In the city of Berkovitsa, an event was held to start the project in the local school, with the mayor of the city, the sports director of the municipality and many other guests all in attendance.

In the city of Sofia, another school has joined the cause of igniting children’s passion for Volleyball. VK Lyulin tried to make the event run in the best possible way, as a demonstration training was conducted by their coaches at the school.
