Latest School Project activities spread all over Slovenia
News
The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia (OZS) is taking full advantage of the opportunities disclosed by the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ to inspire the next generation of Volleyball players in their country.
Altogether, as many as 140 elementary schools have joined in the programme since its introduction in conjunction with the 2018-2019 school year. Most recently, 15 Volleyball clubs applied to join the latest tender run by the OZS – thereby expanding the project to another 31 elementary schools, where activities will be taking place for the first time. OK Mladi Jesenice, TPV Volley Novo mesto, OK Ljutomer, OK Koper, ŽOK Šentvid, and OK Šoštanj Topolšica all participated in the tender for the first time, thus accounting for the involvement of clubs from a variety of regions.
The Volleyball Federation of Slovenia has so far distributed balls and net bands to 25 schools (34 groups of children aged from 8-14, with the involvement of 38 coaches/teachers), with site visits to Primorska region (OK Koper, VC Portorož) and Zreče planned for November 4 and 8, respectively. Each school has received at least eight balls and two net bands.
Moreover, the OZS has already scheduled two CEV School Projects workshops for November 3, November 2022, in Kamnik (run by Živa Cof) and December 2, 2022, in Ljubljana with Luka Lenarčič overseeing the activities.
Meanwhile, the Volleyball clubs TPV Volley Novo mesto and ŽOK Šentvid have decided to participate in the project with their respective Volleyball schools Odbojkarska šola TPV Volley NM and Odbojkarska šola ŽOK Šentvid. They will involve five and three coaches, respectively, in the programme delivery.
Other activities organised in October include a presentation of Volleyball to more than 400 kids in conjunction with the Mini Olympics held on October 5 and the so-called Chestnut tournament, a competition open to U11 girls, which took place on October 23 in Ljubljana.
The Beach Volleyball Commission of the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia has proposed the dates for three Volleyball festivals to be held in 2023:
- March 2023 (Snow Volleyball festival at Rogla Ski Resort, hosted by Weiler Volley Zreče)
- June 2023 (Beach Volleyball festival in Novo mesto, hosted by TPV Volley Novo mesto)
- September 2023 (Beach Volleyball festival in Ljubljana, hosted by ŽOK Šentvid)
All dates, locations, and partners will be confirmed in due time.
OZS is still planning to draw up an on-line Slovenian Volleyball map, including the schools involved in the CEV School Project, but the deadline has been moved from October/November 2022 to the end of December 2022.
