Kids Volley Slovenia project launched with much success

Ljubljana, Slovenia, December 24, 2019. After the test event held in November, the Kids Volleyball Slovenia project was officially launched last weekend in Grosuplje near Ljubljana as a joint effort of the initiators from the Volleyball club ATK Grosuplje and the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia.
The purpose of the Kids Volley Slovenia project as a part of the CEV School Project activities is to create unique mass-participation events all over the country, especially in areas where Volleyball is not yet that much developed. “We want to increase the popularity of Volleyball in Slovenia and one way to do it is through kids’ events. We want to show to the youngsters a non-competitive form of Volleyball and organise activities which will attract children, so they will remember that playing Volleyball was one of the most beautiful experiences they had in sports,” the initiator of the project Simon Krakar explained.
Almost 150 kids gathered in Grosuplje this past Sunday to attend the first official event and the feedback the organisers received was above all expectations. “This is the first time I am attending any volleyball event. My friend invited me to come. I played some Volleyball in school, but I liked football more. However, now I see Volleyball is a great sport. We did not care about the result today, we just played and I enjoyed it so much. I will come again for sure,” Benjamin from Domžale commented.
“My parents took me to EuroVolley matches in Ljubljana in September and I always wanted to try Volleyball. I liked it a lot when we played the game with balloons because I am still a little afraid of balls. But I have tried real volleyball, too,” six-year-old Mateja was proud to say.
“I had such a great time. I really love Volleyball and I play it whenever I can. I hope I will get the opportunity to be present at all Kids Volley events next year,” 10-year-old Katarina commented.
She will soon get the opportunity to enjoy Volleyball again as the second event in the Štajerska region and the third one in the Primorska region will be taking place in early 2020.
