Inaugural U15 national league involves large number of teams and clubs in Azerbaijan
News
The year 2024 has started with a variety of activities specifically designed for young children in Azerbaijan – a partner of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’. The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation (AVF) has launched the 1st edition of a national league with participation of children under the age of 15 (more specifically those born between 2008 and 2010). Therefore, matches featuring young girls are taking place each week in the sports hall owned and run by the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation in Baku.

These are played in a fun-filled atmosphere. The parents come and watch the games too, which accounts for an even more thunderous ambiance. Moreover, sponsors of the clubs are interested in this league, and each week they come to the matches with small presents distributed to all players, not only to those competing for their own team. The league has been advertised through the official Instagram and Telegram accounts of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation. At this stage, it has already managed to involve 16 teams from 14 clubs – and these figures will hopefully grow even further.

A similar league for young boys shall start by the end of February and this shall help grow the game at the grassroots level across Azerbaijan as well.
Talent identification actions continue too. For young boys, the AVF has invited a specialist from Iran for this purpose, and he has already started his work in a few regions across the country.
