The team of OK Jedinstvo from Bijelo Polje, consisting of boys who have been involved in the ‘Free Volleyball School’ project and come from the elementary schools Dusan Korac and 9th May, achieved a notable success by securing fourth place in the final stage of their national championship. The result is particularly impressive especially since these boys were younger than most of the other competitors.

Representatives from Dusan Korac Elementary School in this team were Igor Radovic and Andrija Timotijevic, while the 9th May Elementary School was represented by Luka Rovcanin, Ajlan and Alan Kujovic, Belmin Hodzic, Pavle Knezevic, Damir and Erhan Mulic, Adis Kapetanovic, Mirza Mujovic, and Dzenis Halilovic. The team was coached by Dragan Maškovic from 9th May Elementary School.

This success is undoubtedly the result of hard work and dedication of both the children and their coaches. This experience will surely serve as inspiration for the development of their sports careers.

Project Coordinator Dragiša Calov has evidently shown much dedication as well to supporting the development of Volleyball by visiting schools and monitoring the work of children and coaches. Additionally, new balls were distributed as additional equipment to schools, which will likely further enhance the training and development of the children’s skills. Such initiatives are crucial for supporting young athletes and the development of sports programmes.

The EKO Mini Volleyball league continues with much success. The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro has been organising this competition for the seventh consecutive season, with the support of the CEV, Ministry of Sports, Jugopetrol, the Capital City of Podgorica, and the Montenegrin National Olympic Committee.

This project was launched eight years ago, and it is worth noting that the mass participation is not the only reason for celebration. Through EKO Mini Volleyball, many young people have developed a love for this sport, including members of senior national teams such as the setter from Budva, Rastko Milenkovic, and the libero from Buducnost, Viktoria Djukic (click here for more info). This is an exceptional achievement, while 900 children get acquainted with Volleyball and engage almost every weekend in the sports hall of the Slobodan Skerovic Gymnasium in Podgorica.

This project not only promotes sports but also lays the foundation for the emergence of future generations of volleyball players, providing them with the opportunity to develop their talents and passion for this sport.
