Dozens of Macedonian kids have fun with Volleyball at school
News
The Volleyball Federation of North Macedonia continues to use the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ to grow and inspire the next generation of Volleyball players across the Balkan country.
More than 100 children of different ages from three primary schools attended the Volleyball masterclass run by Pelister Volley on October 13 at the sports hall named after Dr Jovan Kalauzi. The coaches of Pelister Volley involved children as well as their physical education teachers so that they would have a better understanding of the basic technique and of how they could run such an activity even by themselves, with a focus on developing motor skills and coordination. The kids could also better understand the role that the attack plays in the game, as they worked very diligently and showed great interest and enthusiasm in learning more about Volleyball. The interest in the city of Bitola is impressive and year after year the number of children involved continues to grow.
Later in October, the Volleyball club Vesna Probishtip delivered two such classes, one in Zletovo, a suburb of the city of Probishtip, followed by another such activity at the Sofia Petrovska sports hall of their hometown. In Zletovo, some 20 children aged 9 to 11, predominantly girls, attended the class – and they are already looking forward to the next such event with much joy and anticipation. The kids had the opportunity to get to know key aspects of the Volleyball game with a focus on the development of speed and perception in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere.
On October 28, such a class did take place in Probishtip, with participation of 20 children aged 10-12, with a mix of boys and girls. They learned the key elements of overhead passing and reception, as well as how to hit the ball when spiking or serving.
The Volleyball Federation of North Macedonia will continue to deliver activities and competitions throughout the month of November and the organisers are confident that the children will have their right share of fun and enjoy socialising with Volleyball.
