The Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) continues to work extensively to grow the game across the Caucasus country with the help of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’. The latest in an ever-growing series of Volleyball masterclasses took place earlier this week at the secondary school of Akunk, a municipality in Kotayk Province, with participation of a number of sixth-graders.

Andranik Tadevosyan, head coach of the Kotayk regional Volleyball team and senior coach of the Geghashen girls’ Volleyball team, was responsible for running the session. Mr Tadevosyan was one of Armenia’s delegates to attend last year’s CEV Coaches Convention in Slovenia – and this workshop was an ideal opportunity to share the knowledge he acquired through that initiative.

The session allowed a number of young students to familiarise with Volleyball, the rules of the game and perform a number of basic drills. The sixth-graders did so with much diligence and enthusiasm, with Mary Gevorgyan eventually receiving the special medal awarded to the ‘best player’ from the session.

Children from the school have been participating in the Kotayk regional Volleyball championships for a long time representing their community with much pride and this action shall help grow the game in the area even further. The session ended with the kids taking a number of pictures to capture the moment, and their school receiving much-needed equipment to be able to continue to run such activities in the coming weeks and months.
