The Luxembourg Volleyball Federation (FLVB) have further expanded the reach of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’, with a school from the town of Steinfort joining the programme for the first time. Some 38 kids, together with two teachers, enjoyed their first practices with national team coaches for about two weeks this past May. Coaches and teachers are excited about the fast-learning kids. The motivation is extremely high, and it is apparent that the kids are learning volleyball skills and technique very quickly.

During the SCA Women’s Championship Finals organised in late May at d’Coque, the Champions Day for Youth Players took place as well. All winners from domestic competitions designed for youth categories had the chance to watch a match featuring the ‘Red Lionesses’ of Luxembourg and received their medals as well in a break of the actual tournament for senior teams. All the kids and coaches were excited to be handed their reward for the hard work they had put in in front of so many spectators.

With Luxembourg due to host the second edition of the CEV Queen and King of the Court European Finals later this month, the FLVB is working hard to find volunteers with the aim of further attracting youth players and grown-ups to the sport. Moreover, plans have been devised for the delivery of a Kids Day on July 1 in Lorentzweiler. Children aged 5-10 will be able to take their first steps in Volleyball on this day.
