CEV School Project helps increase Volleyball provision in Scotland
News
As we are getting closer to the end of the school year, the CEV School Project activities run by Scottish Volleyball have slowed down a bit. At the start of March, the Regional Development Officer for the West Blair Pettigrew met with One Ren, a local charitable trust in Renfrewshire, providing culture, leisure, and sporting opportunities to help people enjoy active and healthy lives.

Pettigrew has been working with One Ren throughout the year, offering Young Ambassadors courses to help develop Volleyball in the Renfrewshire area. The meeting was productive, with a lot of conversation about the next steps for Volleyball in Renfrewshire. Scottish Volleyball are excited to continue working with One Ren to further increase Volleyball provision in Scotland.

Alongside this, Scottish Volleyball hosted the Semi Finals of the Schools Cup in Glasgow. With eight teams and 50+ pupils from the ages of 14-17 taking part to hopefully secure their spot in the finals, it was a great day of competitive Volleyball for all the schools involved, most of whom have been involved in the CEV School Project for a number of years now.
Moreover, Workforce and Welfare Officer Danny Traylor took part in a project manager meeting, which had Ms Toni-Ann Williams as the main speaker. Ms Williams works for the LOC of the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 as a coordinator in the Department of Impact & Community Relations and shared with the group her experience of community engagement and how to enlarge communities by introducing meaningful and interesting initiatives. This was an interesting talk which gave an insightful look at how big events can create long-lasting opportunities for growth in the communities that host them.
