CEV School Project goes from strength to strength in Bulgaria
News
The CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ is currently drawing exceptional interest in many Bulgarian cities and the activities run by the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) continue to go from strength to strength.
In the month of October alone, the BVF introduced the project in four schools:
- 118 SU Ludmil Stoyanov in Sofia
- SU Peyo Yavorov in Sliven
- SU for European Languages St. Kliment-Kirl Philosopher in Ruse
- SU St. Patriarch Euthymius in Plovdiv
Therefore, as many as 1,000 children had the opportunity to learn more about the Volleyball game with the help of dozens of coaches and over 20 physical education and sports teachers involved.
Aleksandar Nikolov and Nikol Dankinova have played the role of ambassadors for the large-scale project. They help promote the programme and stand out as excellent examples that education and sports are a successful combination in the development and growth of all children. For this purpose, they participated in the shooting of a video, sharing their example with the younger ones.
While chasing success in the sport, Nikolov does not leave education in the background. This past year, he made history as the first freshman to be selected as the No. 1 player in the US NCAA Championships while playing for California State University, Long Beach. Dankinova, on the other hand, had the opportunity to choose from a number of elite foreign universities and has studied at one of the most prestigious ones - Princeton, in the USA.
In the coming weeks and months, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation will expand and introduce the project in more schools across the country, as well as organise seminars for coaches together with their delegates who attended the CEV Coaches Convention held earlier this year in Skopje, North Macedonia.
