Armenian kids play Volleyball ‘unconventionally’ to celebrate #1DayMore4Volleyball
News
The #1DayMore4Volleyball action promoted by the CEV was run with much success by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), with many videos and photos shared on social networks and the programme drawing much attention from members of the volleyball community, cities, educational institutions, sports schools, and other schools as well. Three events were especially successful and remarkable.
In the Qaghsi community, the local physical education teacher, who was a professional skier, came up with the idea of delivering a volleyball match on skis. This idea was very interesting and the local school children who train on skis eventually played ‘ski volleyball’ on February 29.
In Garni, which is home to an iconic old pagan temple and to a gorge known as the ‘Symphony of the Stones’, the local physical education teachers organised an outdoor volleyball championship against such a unique backdrop.
#1DayMore4Volleyball also coincided with the departure of the U20 national team of Armenia for the inaugural European Snow Volleyball Championship in that age group in neighbouring Georgia. On their way to Bakuriani, the girls visited the villages of Ushi and Aragats in Aragatsotn Province together with representatives of the VFA and their coaches. The members of the national team played with the students from the local volleyball schools. About 400 students overall participated in the event. Team Armenia did eventually achieve much success in Bakuriani, finishing the competition on Georgian snow in sixth place.
