Northern Ireland (NI) Volleyball has kicked off a new year of CEV School Project activities with sending five coaches to the CEV Coaches Convention held in Skopje, North Macedonia.
This is the third time NI Volleyball sent their coaching staff to such an event, where teachers and coaches had the opportunity to learn new skills and exchange their knowledge and experience with colleagues from other countries participating in the Project.
Karl Gale, National Junior and Development Squad Head Coach, said, “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the CEV Coaches Convention in Skopje. Taught by two world renowned coaches John Kessel and Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai and sharing my love of Volleyball in conversation with coaches / teachers from USA, Thailand, Latvia, Italy, Luxembourg, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Hungary, Faroe Islands, Slovenia, Greenland, Turkey, France... What a sport we have!”
Matt Proctor“It was an absolute privilege to listen to lectures by two fantastic coaches about growing Volleyball from schools right up to National level. It was also good to hear a variety of different coaching methods being used by the other participants, which gave us the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques that we can use in our own Club.”

The next initiative in Northern Ireland is the Coaches Clinics where the coaches participating in the CEV conferences will share their new skills with Primary Schools Teachers and Club Coaches to enhance their coaching skills as well as to grow Volleyball at the grassroots level and link schools with Volleyball Clubs across the country. The aim is to introduce more teachers to Volleyball, encourage more young people to take up our beloved sport and double the number of schools partaking in the project in the school year 2022-2023.
