Albanian Federation takes School Project to rural areas

To grow the game with the help of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’, the Albanian Volleyball Federation recently focused their activities on several secondary schools in more rural areas in the northern section of the country. In these areas, children are only exposed to Volleyball during physical education classes as planned and run by their physical education teachers, and this means that there are no further opportunities to engage in Volleyball activities after school classes or to join local clubs.

The local teachers deserved a warm welcome to the representatives of the Albanian Volleyball Federation and had prepared teams of boys and girls to organise friendly matches. The schools involved throughout November were Hydajet Lezha High School, Beselidhja Secondary School, Nene Tereza Secondary School, At Zef Pellumbi Secondary School, and Ndoc Gjetja Secondary School.

The Albanian Volleyball Federation has teamed up with the Albanian National Olympic Committee to run a national project called ‘Sport Teams’ – whose primary goal is to create volleyball and basketball teams in secondary and high schools in every city of Albania.

The School Project Managers are currently integrating teachers and their teams into the ‘Sport Teams’ project, which means that recently established Volleyball teams are now having regular practice hours three times a week – which obviously bodes well for their sustainable future!
