The 11th webinar series run by the CEV Technical and Development Department in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ will get underway later this week with a first session featuring renowned Italian coach Alessandro Licata. If you are yet to register, you can still do so via the following link: https://schoolprojectregistrationportal.cev.eu/
This coming Friday, December 6 at noon CET, Licata will discuss Volleyball initiation with a focus on methodological reflections. His presentation emphasises the need to move beyond teaching ‘just’ technique in Volleyball training to develop the brain’s executive functions, thereby enabling players to respond effectively to both spatial and temporal stimuli.
Licata’s approach focuses on the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of actions at both perceptual and execution levels, highlighting the importance of a fresh, playful approach that fosters curiosity and builds strong foundational skills, particularly for beginners.
Targeting children aged 6-14, the programme integrates multi-sport disciplines and foundational motor patterns to develop cognitive, emotional, and motor skills. Through structured and playful activities, Licata aims to build robust perceptual-emotional-cognitive-motor schemes, which are all equally essential for long-term development.
